About Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates is a form of exercise that shares the principles of centring, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow with traditional mat classes, but is done on a reformer machine. The Reformer Pilates machine was designed by Joseph Pilates, the founder of Pilates, in the 1920s and involves a system of springs, ropes, pulleys and a carriage.

Regular Reformer Pilates helps build stronger core, improves posture, mood, body shape and muscle tone, increases flexibility, builds optimal health and helps you to move efficiently. Reformer Pilates take stress off joints and bones whilst providing a challenging, overall body workout.

During each class, the participant guided in how to use the Reformer Pilates machine throughout a range of exercises; lying, sitting, standing, pulling the straps and pushing the foot bar.

Using different resistance levels, the Reformer Pilates machine is adjusted to fit the user’s current fitness level, and each session progresses in difficulty to develop fitness, stability and strength accordingly.
